Physicochemical and microbial alterations in crude oil-contaminated soil samples

Environmental pollution is becoming an issue of concern due to its negative impact on the living and non-living components environment. Crude oil products are major sources environmental that renders soil mineral microorganism. This study was thus carried out determine effect crude physicochemical properties, bacterial fungal population. The experiment lasted for 42 days analysis were at 0, 14, 28 using standard protocols. Results obtained show significant changes (P ≤ 0.05) in hydrocarbons other parameters such as pH, nitrate, electrical conductivity, sodium ion, calcium phosphate magnesium when control compared with contaminated soil. Also, count decreased significantly increasing concentrations indicating toxicity microbial consortium. However, results also showed hydrocarbon-degrading microorganisms strived higher but insignificantly comparison control. Owing result this study, exploration should be properly managed prevent spillages negatively
